"I believe in both the Texas Constitution and the United States Constitution and a parent's right to raise their kids in a manner in which they see fit." ~ Dwayne Gossett
Dwayne Gossett has been a resident of Belton ISD since 1973. He started attending Belton Schools in the 3rd Grade and graduated in 1986. The Class of 1986 was the 1st class in the "then" new Belton High School.
Dwayne Gossett is a County Government employee who has worked for 20 years in a position that requires him to work within a budget. In May of 2013, Dwayne ran and was elected as City Council Member in Morgan's Point Resort and was a Council Member for 2 terms serving 4 consecutive years. In May of 2017, he was elected as the City Mayor and served for 2 terms, a total of 4 years.
Dwayne married his wife Candy Gossett when he was 18 years old, they have been married for 34 years. Dwayne and Candy have 2 sons that both started and graduated in the Belton School District, graduating from Belton High School. They also have 5 grandchildren.
Dwayne believes parents are an important part of their child's education in partnership with teachers and will advocate for & empower parents to be the voice for their kid's education. Pledge to keep politics and personal agendas out of the schools or School Board decisions. He will support parents that bring their concerns or grievances to the school board.
Parents should be able to speak at the beginning of the School Board Meeting, not wait 3 hours.
Female students should not need to fear for their safety to use the restroom
Teachers should be able to speak out on ideology that has no place in our schools without retribution.
I feel a personal obligation to listen to parents and teachers for the betterment of our children's education.
There are many values, beliefs, and character that I can add as a member serving on the Belton ISD School Board.
The catalyst for me to run for school board was seeing on the TV parents speaking up in support of their kids and being labeled, "domestic terrorists" or "peanut gallery". This is not the right way for school board members to act.
Personally, I will represent the voters as a free-thinking member of the School Board.
All I know is that the Texas Legislature is very specific about what Character Traits can be taught in our public schools. Things like trust and responsibility. We have teachers who are very capable of doing this.
Support more involvement of Board Members to act when explicit or obscene books are found in the school library and brought as a concern by a parent.
"I believe that parents understand their children best and that their concerns should be listened to and acknowledged. I will work to foster an environment for kids to thrive in, and I will promote the best classroom experience for the kids and the teachers." ~ Brandon Hall
Brandon has served as an elder in his church, spent 2 years leading a large children's ministry, and has also enjoyed coaching his kid's BCYC Basketball teams. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Degree in Psychology and a passion to both help and serve the community.
Brandon Hall is a Product Manager at IBM where he has worked for over 23 years. His role requires him to manage a number of people, maintain a budget, and deliver projects on time.
Brandon has been married to his wife, Karen, for 23 years. After graduation, they both stayed in the Austin area for 15 years before moving to the Belton area 8 years ago to be closer to family. Brandon and Kain have 5 kids, two are currently enrolled at Texas Tech with one that participated as a Magic Belle and graduated from Belton New Tech High School in 2021. They have one son that is currently a sophomore at Belton New Tech High School, is part of the Construction Skills USA program, and is a member of the Belton JV Basketball team.
Brandon believes parental choice and involvement are crucial in the successful education of their children. He also believes that parents should have a voice in their child's education.
Parents should have a strong voice in their child's education, be involved in the building of their character, and the medical freedom to choose what is best for their child.
The Constitution is an incredible document and the original intent of our founders should be taught in school.
Teachers are not psychologists, sociologists, or counselors. They are teachers. Let them teach and give them an environment to thrive in.

~ Let Teachers Teach
Our parents have a voice in their child's education path and shared community values—likewise, our teachers as partners in education with parents. Let's ensure that Teachers are set up for success in the classroom and are backed by the administration with that goal in mind.
It concerned me when attending School Board meetings they basically have ignored concerns brought to them. Hear more....
I will bring years of experience, both in business and personal, working with people, as well as, listening to people when concerns are shared.
Here more about how I feel parent voices have been silenced and why having their voices heard is important to me.
Started out as a good idea that has gotten hijacked by activists and is not a good representation of our Belton Community values. In fact, our teachers should be empowered as they are great examples of positive character traits such as courage, honesty, and empathy.
Very open to hearing from parents about books that may be of concern and bringing this matter to the board for review. The Board is the watchmen and watchwomen.
